Welcome to our review of the Bushnell Trophy XLT Multi-X Reticle Riflescope Bone Collector Edition. This 3-9X riflescope ships with Butler Creek flip-open scope covers for protection of your glass, and is covered by a limited lifetime warranty. How well will the scope meet your needs as a hunter or sports shooter, though? Let’s check out the scope, shall we?

What Are the Scope’s Dimensions?

The Bushnell Trophy XLT Multi-X Reticle Riflescope is 11.9 inches long and weighs in at 14.1 ounces, so it’s a pretty sizable scope without being overly huge. The scope features an eye relief of 4 inches, a 40mm objective lens, and a 13.3 mm exit pupil. Required mounting length for the scope is 5.5 inches, so make sure you have enough space for the scope before you buy it.

How Powerful Is The Bushnell Trophy XLT Multi-X Reticle Riflescope?

This scope has powerful zoom capabilities, with magnification ranging from 3X to 9X. You’ll be able to bracket your target at 3X magnification, then zoom in for that up close and personal shot with 9X magnification. The resolution is fantastic throughout the entire zoom range of the scope, and you get excellent clarity in your target image.

How is the Optics Quality on the Riflescope?

The optics on the Bushnell Trophy XLT Multi-X Reticle Riflescope are fully multi-coated, so you can be assured to be free of glare and reflection when you’re using the scope. The lenses are O-Ring sealed, so the scope is 100% waterproof, and the barrel is dry nitrogen-filled to prevent fogging.

One drawback to this scope is the Multi-X reticle. This reticle is a simplex reticle, with no markings to help with range compensation. You’ll have to learn the ballistics of the scope at different ranges to be assured of pinpoint accuracy.

The fast focus eyepiece works very well, allowing you to quickly focus on your target and be ready to take the shot. I’ve heard some folks complain about the focus being blurry beyond 75 yards, but I haven’t noticed that problem in the Bushnell Trophy XLT Multi-X Reticle Riflescope I received. Bushnell backs the riflescope with their bulletproof 100% moneyback guarantee, though, so if you do run into problems, you can rest assured you’ll be treated well by customer service.

What’s the Light Gathering Capability Like on the Scope?

The scope features 91% light transmission to provide you with excellent light gathering capabilities, even in low light conditions. Unfortunately, the reticles are not illuminated, so even though you can see your subject clearly in low light, you might not be able to make out the reticles.

How Wide is the Field of View?

The field of view at 3X magnification is a generous 40 feet at 100 yards, and you still get a 13 foot field of view at 100 yards with 9X magnification. This is an excellent field of view at all magnifications, giving you just enough of a visual to spot and bracket your prey before you zoom in for the kill shot.

How Easy is the Scope to Mount?

This scope does not include rings, so you will need to purchase a set of 1″ rings if you don’t have any. Once you have the rings, the scope mounts easily to just about any firearm. Requiring just 5.5″ of mounting length, the scope works well for bolt action rifles.

Any Tricks or Tips About Mounting the Scope?

No tricks or tips required for this scope! Just get a good set of 1″ rings, and you’ll be good to go. I have not noticed the need for high rings, but your needs might vary. If you normally use high rings with your firearm, you should get the same style of rings for the Bushnell Trophy XLT Multi-X Reticle Riflescope.

How Easy is the Bushnell Trophy XLT Multi-X Reticle Riflescope to Sight In?

This scope features fingertip windage and elevation adjustment knobs, so the scope is very easy to sight in without the need for any tools. I always recommend getting on paper fast by sighting in with a laser bore sighting tool (this saves on ammunition and time), which takes just a few minutes to do. Once I had the scope bore sighted, it was only a few shots before I was shooting 1/2″ groupings from 50 yards out. The scope holds zero quite well; I’ve put several hundred rounds through my AR-15 with this scope installed, and the scope is still holding zero after all of that shooting.

How Durable is the Riflescope?

The Bushnell Trophy XLT Multi-X Reticle Riflescope built to last, with a shockproof design along with the waterpoof and fogproof design. The one-piece 30mm tube is built from aircraft-grade aluminum, making it rugged and durable. The scope is designed to withstand the recoil of even the most powerful rifles and shotguns, and has even survived a fall or two without any problems. Bushnell covers this scope with a limited lifetime warranty, so you can rest easy that your scope will last you for years of rugged service.

Bushnell Trophy XLT Multi-X Reticle Riflescope Review Summary

Thanks for reading this review of the Bushnell Trophy XLT Multi-X Reticle Riflescope. This riflescope isn't perfect, but it is definitely a great product and a terrific value. The scope's only real drawbacks are the lack of illumination and the Multi-X reticle. For about $40 more, though, you can get this same scope with a DOA 200 SG Reticle, which provides the range compensation markers that the Multi-X reticle lacks.

    Hi:)

I know most European scopes are 30mm in diameter; most in the US are 1 inch.

However if you need 1″ rings; one inch equals 25.4mm?
