Welcome to our review of the AIM Sports 4×32 compact rangefinder Riflescope. This scope, unlike some other scopes that advertise rangefinder reticles but fail to deliver, actually provides a sloped rangefinding reticle that will help you get on target fast and accurately, if the rest of the scope meets your shooting needs. Read on to see if this is the scope for you.

What Are the Scope’s Dimensions?

This riflescope weighs 10.9 ounces, and is 7.75” long. Its compact design should allow it to fit easily in your rifle case mounted to your rifle, which will allow you to transport your rifle with the scope mounted so you don’t have to re-zero the scope every time you take it out.

How Much Magnification Do I Get From the ?

This scope provides a fixed 4X magnification, which should be sufficient for shooting out to 50-60 yards. Of course, AIM Sports advertises using this scope out as far as 100 yards or more, but the reticle is too thick for fine-tuned shooting at that distance. You could shoot that far out, but not small targets.

How is the Optics Quality on the Riflescope?

The optics aren’t as good as I would like, but this is a very inexpensive scope. Still, I compared the optics with another scope in the same price range but just about $5 more expensive, and the competing scope had far better clarity and contrast. If you’re deer hunting in good lighting conditions, this scope will be more than adequate, though. If your goal is to shoot smiley faces from a hundred yards, you should select a better scope.

What’s the Light Gathering Capability Like on the Scope?

Because this is such a compact scope, the light gathering capability isn’t as good as you might want for low light hunting or shooting. During normal daylight hours, or even slightly overcast conditions, the scope allows enough ambient light to target and bag a deer from 100 yards, but I would not recommend this scope if your hunting takes you into low lighting conditions.

How Wide is the Field of View?

The field of view on this scope is 36.6’ at 100 yards, which is solidly above the average. I was happy with the field of view, even if I wasn’t happy with the clarity of the image from that range. I guess you can’t have it all: inexpensive price, good FOV, and good optics. Something’s gotta give.

How Easy is the Scope to Mount?

This scope includes Weaver/Picatinny 1913 rings for mounting on most rifles, and is very easy to mount. The only problem I see with the included rings is that they work loose very easily (like, sitting in my safe, they worked loose) which forces you to have to zero in your scope again. I ended up using Loctite on the ring mounting screws, which is something I try to never do.

Any Tricks or Tips About Mounting the Scope?

Yes, as mentioned in the previous section, the ring mounting screws work loose far too easily. Use a bit of Loctite to hold them in place, or replace the rings with better quality scope rings.

How Easy is the AIM Sports 4×32 Compact Scope to Sight In?

The scope sights in very easily, so I was able to have the scope sighted in within just a few shots. I do recommend using a laser bore sighting tool first, to make the initial coarse adjustments to the scope before you head out to the range to fine-tune your sight. This saves ammunition and time, since you can get your scope on paper without wasting a single shot.

Once sighted in, though, the problem I mentioned before came in—the scope lost zero between shooting sessions, and I had to sight it in again. Once I got the rings to stay tight, though, the scope held zero for the rest of the time I was testing it.

How Durable is the Riflescope?

This riflescope is milled from a solid piece of aircraft-grade aluminum, and is very solid and durable. The housing is fogproof and shock-proof, so you can confidently take this scope into the field and not worry about breaking the lenses or the scope itself.

Riflescope Summary

Thanks for reading my review of the AIM Sports 4×32 Compact scope with rangefinder reticle. This scope has its flaws, such as blurry images and poor light gathering, but it’s a decent scope for the price. You get a rangefinder feature that actually works, but the reticle is too thick for small game hunting beyond 40-60 yards.
