Thanks for stopping by my review of the Uineye Laser Rangefinder. Uineye was a new name to me, so I was anxious to get my hands on their device and see how it compares to the competition. I put the accessory through its paces, and this is what I’ve learned about it.

In the box, you’ll find the rangefinder, a carrying strap, and a microfiber cleaning cloth. Unfortunately, it doesn’t include a battery, but it does come with a very nice semi-hard carrying case.

What’s the Maximum Range of the Device

Uineye says their laser rangefinder is good out to 1,600 yards, and I tested it as far as I could (750 yards). I found it to be quite accurate, within ± 1 foot, which was astounding. Take note, this is ranging highly reflective targets – you won’t really find a laser rangefinder that can give you measurements to a deer from more than 400 or 500 yards.

How Easy Is the Uineye Laser Rangefinder To Use?

I’m a fan of single-button operation, but this one has two buttons. With that said, it’s still very easy to use, giving you quick and accurate measurements without a lot of hassle. The display is concise and simple to read, providing you with the distance, angle to the ranged object, and battery life.

The rangefinder offers 8X magnification, and I’d estimate the field of view to be approximately 300 feet at 1,000 yards. As a nice added (and unadvertised) feature, there’s a diopter adjustment with a range of ± 4 diopters.

What Kind of Battery Do I Need?

Once again, a rangefinder that uses CR–2 batteries. Unfortunately, Uineye doesn’t provide one for you, so make sure you purchase your power source at the same time. The accessory does offer excellent power management, and the battery in mine has lasted for more than a year without showing any signs of running low.

What Features Can I Expect From the Uineye Laser Rangefinder?

This model is more than just a simple rangefinder, giving you far more than just line-of-sight distances. It measures angles between –90º and +90º with ±0.35º accuracy, meaning you can calculate ballistic compensation if you know the appropriate formulas for your preferred shooting method. Unfortunately, it doesn’t make those distance calculations for you.

The Uineye Laser Rangefinder also provides you with a scan mode to continuously measure distances, which is nice for moving targets or checking the distance to multiple objects at once.

How Well Does It Gather Light?

Uineye has outfitted their rangefinder with multicoated optics, so the device gathers light reasonably well. Still, it could be even better with fully multicoated optics. If you often need a rangefinder in low light conditions, you won’t find this much use beyond its functionality as an 8X monocular, since the display isn’t backlit and is very difficult to read on dark backgrounds.

How Are the Optics and Focus on This Rangefinder?

The optics are quite good, and offer an excellent, clear, crisp view of your subject. Darkness only hinders reading the display, and the device works quite well in all weather conditions. The automatic focus system is reliable and fast, giving you quick adjustments so you can get your target ranged with speed and precision.

How Durable is the Rangefinder?

Uineye has built a solid product, but it doesn’t offer any rubber armor to help protect against bumps or falls. It is made of high-quality plastic, though, and the textured grips along with the included lanyard will help keep you from dropping it. The rangefinder is both waterproof and fogproof, with O-ring sealed lenses and an optical chamber that, from my testing, appears to be nitrogen purged – one frigid winter morning, I was able to use the device without any fogging or other problems.

Uineye Laser Rangefinder Review Summary

I’m glad you came by and read this review of the Uineye Laser Rangefinder. It’s always fun checking out products by little known manufacturers, and testing this one out was a true pleasure. For the budget-conscious shopper, this is an excellent deal with just a few caveats. It doesn’t include a battery, and the display isn’t backlit for use in dark conditions. Other than that, it’s a truly solid competitor in the fierce rivalry for “best rangefinder.”
