Welcome to our review of the TacFire Tactical Mini Compact 1×20 Dual Illuminated Green and Red Dot Crossbow Sight. Thos CQB reflex sight is designed with a MILSPEC 1913 Picatinny mounting system, and is advertised as being perfect for rifles, pistols, shotguns, paintball, airsoft, or crossbows. The sight weighs a mere 4.2 ounces, and is 2.73 inches long with a 20mm objective lens. Let’s see how well it performs on a crossbow.

How Much Magnification Do I Get From the TacFire Tactical Mini Sight?

This sight is a simple field of view objective reflex sight, and offers no magnification. It features a 20mm objective lens with a 2 MOA red and green dot reticle.

How is the Optics Quality on the Crossbow Sight?

This sight has simple coated optics, meaning at least one of the air-to-glass surfaces is treated with anti-reflective coating. Unfortunately, the sight is not multi-coated or even fully coated, so you will notice a degradation in the ability of the sight to gather light.

The reticle is illuminated with either a red or green dot, and the dot has a tendency to appear fuzzy or non-circular. The reticle is adjustable to five different intensity settings for each of the red and green illuminated dots. The brightness isn’t the best, and is a tad bit difficult to see in sunny conditions. On the other hand, the minimum brightness setting is too bright during low light conditions.

The 2 MOA dot, however, is perfectly sized for most close quarters combat or crossbow hunting situations. It covers up very little of the target, even at 50 yards, making the dot perfect for deer hunting, if you can overcome the sight’s adversities.

The sight offers unlimited eye relief, and provides a generous 36.5 feet field of view from 100 yards.

Bear in mind, this is an extreme low-budget sight, and you shouldn’t expect much out of it.

What’s the Housing Like on the Crossbow Sight?

The TacFire Tactical Mini Compact 1×20 Dual Illuminated Green and Red Dot Crossbow Sight is constructed of aircraft grade aluminum, making it quite shockproof and rugged. I’ve used this on a .50 caliber muzzleloader without any problems, and the sight even stayed true after several shots. It is advertised as being shockproof, fogproof, and waterproof.

How Easy is this Sight to Mount?

The TacFire Tactical Mini Compact 1×20 Dual Illuminated Green and Red Dot Crossbow Sight has an integrated mounting system for Picatinny rails, and is mountable in seconds. Once you’ve got the sight mounted, you can quickly move on to sighting in the glass.

How Easy is the TacFire Tactical Mini Compact to Sight In?

This sight is very easy to sight in, with 1.18 inch click values at 50 yards. I had the TacFire Tactical Mini Compact 1×20 Dual Illuminated Green and Red Dot Crossbow Sight sighted in and ready to go within about six shots of my crossbow, and the sight remained zeroed in for a full deer season.

Is the TacFire Tactical Mini Easy to Use Sight?

The sight should be easy to use, but the non-circular red/green dot, the illumination intensity problems, and the limited light transmission make the sight easy to use only in certain conditions. In the middle of the day with overcast conditions, the sight is simple to use. In very bright conditions, though, the dot is difficult to use. Contrarily, low light conditions see us getting a fuzzy, haloed dot when trying to use the sight.
